Description
The rough-in inspection is arguably the most important milestone of a fire sprinkler system. Rarely are these systems inspected and tested by the same personnel that perform the shop drawing plan review, which means that the inspector and fitter are our last chance to get it right. The successful installation of a fire sprinkler system is directly influenced by the synergy, or lack thereof, between the inspector and contractor, regardless of design intent and plan review accuracy. This presentation will include detailed discussion and tools for inspections and the role of the inspector performing it.
Upon completion of this seminar, attendees will be able to:
- Quickly identify construction types by definitions for each compartment and validate the approved shop drawings.
- Recognize and apply the proper obstruction types and associated rules based on the construction definitions.
- Compare those critical portions of the actual installation with the approved shop drawings.
- Describe the tests to be conducted and their significance to system performance.
