Description
The 2023 edition of NFPA 25 contains revisions to Table A.3.3.8 which provides guidance for assigning classifications to abnormal conditions found during ITM of water-based suppression systems. This session examines the changes to the table and associated text to assist service providers in providing the best information to the system owner while limiting liability. NFPA 25 intends service providers to use their judgement and knowledge in assigning classifications such as non-critical and critical deficiencies or impairments. It is necessary to understand the intent of the standard as explained in the revised annex material to comply with these expectations.
Upon completion of this seminar, attendees will be able to:
- Explain the difference between systems, units, and components when evaluating abnormal conditions found during inspections and tests.
- Apply Table A.3.3.8 properly where it indicates multiple possible classifications for abnormal conditions.
- Identify and explain how the hazard and context in which abnormal conditions are found can impact the assigned classification, i.e. critical or non-critical deficiencies and impairments.
