Name
Sprinkler System Plan Review
Date & Time
Thursday, February 27, 2025, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Kevin Hall
Description

This presentation will review the principles of hydraulics, including selecting an appropriate design approach, identifying the different types of pressure, calculating changes in pressure (elevation and friction loss), balancing flows and pressures, and node analysis. Participants will be able to apply factors for equivalent length adjustments based on pipe type, size, and system arrangement. Using the principles of hydraulics, participants will select a remote area, identify and understand the different sections of the detailed hydraulic worksheet, and perform hand calculations.

At the completion of this presentation, you should be able to:
1. Identify the four design approaches for protection of non-storage
occupancies
2. Understand and apply the principles of hydraulics
3. Differentiate between area of coverage and area of discharge
4. Apply methods to balance at hydraulic junction points
5. Determine friction loss through a sprinkler system
6. Perform hand calculations for tree systems
