Description
This course will detail the various water supplies that feed water-based fire protection systems. The course will describe the types, basic calculations that relate to each type, and the standards to consider. Specific topics will include public mains, water storage tanks, gravity tanks, pressure tanks, and fire pumps.
Upon completion the student will be able to:
i. Identify the different types of water supplies permitted to supply water-based fire protection
systems
ii. Determine the required duration of water based on the hazard
iii. Determine the available supply of a waterworks system
iv. Identify the purpose of backflow preventors
