This course will detail the installation of suction and discharge piping and components per NFPA 20. This course will discuss the importance of suction and discharge piping and its impact on fire pump performance. Specific topics include control valve types and location, fittings, hangers and bracing, automatic relief, and pressure sensing lines.

Upon completion the student will be able to:
i. Identify the termination points of suction and discharge piping
ii. Identify the components that are permitted to be installed in the suction piping
iii. Identify the minimum distance from the suction flange required for changes in direction in the
suction pipe
iv. Identify the components that are permitted to be installed in the discharge piping
