This session will examine the requirements for inspection, testing, and maintenance of standpipe systems according to the 2023 edition of NFPA 25. The presenter will discuss key equipment installed on standpipe systems and how PRVs should be tested during inspections and commissioning phases. There will be a discussion on evaluating test results and how to classify conditions that could impact the performance of the standpipe system. We will discuss potential changes to NFPA standards and FM data sheets.

Upon completion of this seminar, attendees will be able to:

• Examine current requirements for periodic inspection, testing, and maintenance of standpipe systems and discuss key equipment installed on standpipe systems, such as pressure-reducing hose valves and pressure-regulating devices.
• Identify methods of conducting various tests of standpipe systems.
• Evaluate potential changes being discussed to NFPA 14 and NFPA 25 that could impact future testing of inspection, testing, and maintenance of standpipe systems.
