This presentation will discuss the basic principles of hydraulics as it applies to field installation. The participant will be able to understand the differences between a pipe schedule and a hydraulically calculated system and the limitations associated with each. In addition, the participant will be able to determine the area of coverage of a sprinkler and understand how to verify that any changes in the field are compliant with the hydraulic design.

At the completion of this presentation, you should be able to:

1. Determine the area of coverage (As) of sprinklers.
2. Identify the maximum area of coverage (As) permitted on an installation.
3. Determine the minimum pipe sizes permitted for both pipe schedule and hydraulically calculated systems.
